In terms of reminders and put it to remember, I would like to raise the subject of licensing VMware Site Recovery Manager.
In the previous week, the situation happened to me that I had to correct some settings in the environment and add virtual machines to the SRM.
At the time of adding received information that there is no free licenses to complete the desired operation.
From what I remember it should continue to be a place to add further servers. However, after checking, it turned out that I was right and wrong at the same time.
The case is trivial, because the standard version Site Recovery is able to manage only 75 servers per physical site. This means that in my case, where I have only two sites had lost the ability to add new servers. Great!
How can we learn from VMware
Site Recovery Manager Standard is designed for smaller environments and is limited to 75 protected virtual machines per physical site and per Site Recovery Manager instance.
Site Recovery Manager Enterprise provides enterprise-level protection to all virtualized applications with no licensing restriction on the number of virtual machines that can be protected.
In this case it remains the only version to increase license to enterprise.
